Flat Coated Retriever

Flat Coated Retrievers are strong, medium-sized dogs, sleek and free from any signs of weakness.

They contributed to the breed’s popularity in Europe and the United Kingdom. They have an excellent sense of smell, combined with their boundless energy.

With a striking, shiny black or liver-colored coat, these dogs look like a dark version of their relative, the Golden Retriever.

Like all retrievers, these dogs need ample opportunity to expend their energy through Neighbourhood walk, hikes and backyard playtime.

History

Flat-Coated Retrievers originated in England in the mid-19th century as hunting dogs. They were bred to retrieve game on land and in water

About the Flat Coated Retriever

Flat Coated Retrievers have many traits in common with other retrievers, such as friendliness towards people and other dogs, natural retrieving instincts, and a love for water.

These affectionate and energetic dogs retain their playful enthusiasm well into adulthood and are ideally suited for active, outdoorsy families.

Flat-Coats are very intelligent, responsive, and eager to please, so they are generally easy to train.
